Every summer, The Queen’s Academy brings together mentors who reflect the strength, brilliance, and possibility that already lives inside every young woman who walks through our doors. This year is no different. Our 2026 Summer Program speaker lineup features entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, engineers, content creators, and community advocates — all committed to helping Black teens in Houston build confidence, discover their purpose, and prepare for the future.
Below, meet the incredible women and men who will be sharing their time, wisdom, and lived experience with our Queens this summer.
Nurse Kristin Douglas: Leading with Confidence and Purpose

Kristin Douglas is an entrepreneur, wellness leader, and founder dedicated to empowering women through innovation, leadership, and intentional living. Through her growing wellness and lifestyle brands, she creates experiences that inspire confidence, personal growth, and purpose.
Passionate about mentorship and community impact, Nurse Kristin encourages young women to embrace their potential, lead with confidence, and pursue lives of meaning and success — a message that speaks directly to the heart of The Queen’s Academy’s mission.
Stephanie Tsuru: Building Opportunity for Women and Girls in Houston

Stephanie Tsuru is the Co-Founder of SheSpace and a dedicated advocate for women’s empowerment, leadership, and community impact. With a background in healthcare, philanthropy, and literacy initiatives, Stephanie has devoted her career to creating opportunities that help women and girls thrive.
Through her leadership and mentorship, she continues to inspire future generations of leaders across Houston and beyond — making her a natural fit for a program built to develop the next wave of confident, capable young women.
Sunny: Storytelling, Content Creation, and Community Impact

Sunny is a leading content creator, community advocate, and Grambling State University graduate. Originally from Michigan and now based in Houston, Sunny is passionate about inspiring others through storytelling, personal development, and community impact.
Her mission — to be part of the change she wants to see in the world while encouraging others to do the same — will resonate deeply with our teens as they explore their own voice and platform.
Dr. David McDonald: Mental Health, Social Media, and Youth Well-Being

Dr. David McDonald, MD, MBA, is a Pediatric Resident Physician in Houston dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of children and adolescents. A native Houstonian, Dr. McDonald has a special interest in the impact of social media on youth mental health.
Through education and open conversation, he helps young people better understand their relationship with social media, develop healthier digital habits, and explore meaningful ways to connect and thrive beyond their screens — a critical conversation for today’s Black teens navigating life online.
Margo Jordan: Confidence, Self-Esteem, and Emotional Wellness

Margo Jordan is a veteran, entrepreneur, and Founder & CEO of Enrichly. She is passionate about helping young people build confidence, strengthen self-esteem, and achieve emotional wellness through innovative solutions and community impact.
Margo’s journey from military service to entrepreneurship offers our Queens a powerful example of discipline, resilience, and purpose-driven leadership.
Brittney Davis: Creative Entrepreneurship and Event Strategy

Brittney Davis is an entrepreneur, event strategist, and Founder of Beyond the Celebration. Through her passion for event design and creative entrepreneurship, Brittney inspires others to think boldly, embrace their creativity, and transform ideas into meaningful opportunities.
Her story shows our teens that creativity and business savvy can build a thriving career — and that bold ideas deserve to be pursued.
Monica: Engineering, Mentorship, and College & Career Readiness

Monica is an engineer, mentor, and passionate advocate for youth development. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Fullerton.
As both an engineer and a mother, Monica is passionate about helping tween and teen girls build confidence and prepare for their futures. She’ll be sharing practical guidance on college planning, career opportunities, and the skills young women need in STEM and beyond — giving our Queens real-world insight from a woman who has lived it.
Edward Pollard: Civic Engagement, Leadership, and Community Impact

Edward Pollard is the Houston City Council Member for District J, an attorney, and the founder of Suits for Success, a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring young men through leadership and life skills. His career has been centered on public service, youth empowerment, and strengthening communities across Houston.
At The Queen’s Academy 2026, Council Member Pollard will lead an engaging session on Civic Engagement, Voting, and Activism. Students will also participate in the Queen’s Academy Presidential Race, where they’ll develop campaign platforms, deliver speeches, cast ballots, and discover the power of using their voices to create positive change in their communities.

Why These Voices Matter for Black Teens in Houston
The Queen’s Academy exists to make sure Black teen girls in Houston have access to mentors who look like them, understand their journey, and believe in their potential. From wellness and mental health to entrepreneurship, engineering, and creative business, this year’s speakers reflect the full range of paths our Queens can pursue.
Each conversation, workshop, and mentorship moment this summer is designed to help our teens walk away with more confidence, more clarity, and a stronger sense of who they are and who they’re becoming.
